BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new form of transportation from Boston Harbor may make summer trips to Cape Cod relatively traffic-free for passengers.
Tailwind Air seaplanes have arrived at Boston Harbor this spring, offering rides to destinations like Manhattan's New York Skyport and Plymouth. Beginning Memorial Day weekend, Tailwind Air says they will have flight service to Provincetown. For those flights, Tailwind Air's Leah Murphy says they will be short trips.
"It's a quick thirty-five-minute flight, you're in the air for about twenty minutes, and then you're in the water taxis for about ten," Murphy said.
Boston travelers can find their seaplane at either the Rowes Wharf in the Financial District or Fan Pier Marina in the Seaport District. From there, passengers can take a short water taxi out to the Cessna Caravan amphibian seaplanes sitting in the harbor.

WBZ's Mike Macklin spoke to a couple Tailwind Air passengers heading to Manhattan.
"I think this is definitely a service I'm going to be using frequently, I do fly to New York quite often from Boston and so having this available is going to be the most efficient route for me," said Doctor Jeffrey Vogel.

According to officials, one-way flights to Manhattan take about 75 minutes and can range from $495 to $795 depending on availability. For one-way flights to and from Plymouth, officials say tickets are $75 apiece.
