BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Stuart Green may not be from New England, but he is doing his best to get to know the place.
Green, a retired engineer who grew up in "Old England" and now lives in southern New Hampshire, is meticulously mapping out the 1,800 miles of rail trails that web across New England.
"It just helps me to explore the whole area and get to know and get to relate to the new place that I live," Green told WBZ NewsRadio Tuesday.

The pet project is for Green's free-to-use website Trailspotting, which catalogues and reviews the old rail lines that are now open as trails to the public.
"One of the things I really like about the rail trails is it gives you a different perspective on a place, whether it’s somewhere you’re visiting for the first time or somewhere very familiar to you," Green said.
According to Green, he is almost done mapping the rail trails in New Hampshire and is now on to Massachusetts.
Trailspotting also catalogues New England's covered bridges and fire towers, as well as hiking trails in California, southwestern U.S., Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and United Kingdom.
