WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A tornado watch is in effect in seven Massachusetts counties for much of the day Sunday.

The National Weather Service said the tornado watch covers Berkshire, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, and Worcester counties and will expire at 3 p.m.

According to the NWS, a tornado watch means weather conditions make it possible for a tornado to form.

A severe tornado warning was also issued Sunday morning in Essex and Middlesex counties in Massachusetts, as well as Hillsborough and Rockingham counties in New Hampshire, but it has since expired.

Additionally, much of Massachusetts is under a flash flood warning until late Sunday night due to excessive rainfall, the weather service said.
