Varicose Veins & Venous Disease – When To See Your Doctor

Varicose Veins are those swollen, twisted veins that can be seen just under the surface of the skin on the legs and sometimes other areas of the body. While they are visually displeasing and sometimes painful, they can also be dangerous.

They are caused when veins that should be carrying blood to the heart weaken, allowing blood to back up and pool. When veins become abnormal, the condition is caused by Venous Disease.

Learn when you should see a doctor about Varicose Veins and about treatments with the Chief of Vascular Surgery, Dr. Mark Iafrati, at Tufts Medical Center.
