BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dozens of local healthcare workers boarded the Patriots' plane Sunday morning bound for Super Bowl LV in Florida.
The 76 vaccinated frontline workers from New England are some of the fortunate few who get to attend this year's Super Bowl in Tampa, Fla. amid the pandemic.
They're being treated to an all-expenses paid trip, including flights on the team plane, tickets to see the Kansas City Chiefs play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and two nights stay at a hotel.
The health care workers met at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough early Sunday, where they stopped for a photo on the gridiron before being bussed to Boston's Logan airport.
Shortly before 9 a.m. they were greeted at the Delta hangar by Governor Charlie Baker, New England Patriots President Jonathan Kraft and New England Patriots Captain Matthew Slater, who sent them off on the team plane hours before a snow storm hit the region.
There will be some familiar faces at this year's Super Bowl, and they seem to have the support of many New England fans.
Despite their recent departure from the Patriots, most local NFL fans told WBZ NewsRadio they'll be rooting for Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski's new team, the Buccaneers.

According to CBS, the New England healthcare workers will also get to take part in several pregame parties and music concerts, and they'll get to meet other vaccinated hospital workers who were chosen by NFL teams across the nation to attend the Big Game.
Super Bowl LV between the Chiefs and the Buccaneers kicks off Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in Tampa, where Tom Brady will play his first Super Bowl since leaving the New England Patriots in 2019.
