Woman Dies In Crash Between Minivan And Tow Truck In South Boston

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — One person is dead after a crash involving a minivan and tow truck in South Boston Saturday night, police said.

Massachusetts State Police said they responded to a crash shortly after 11:30 p.m. on South Boston Bypass Road, just east of Frontage Road.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling westbound when it crossed over the double solid yellow lines and struck a flatbed tow truck traveling eastbound. The tow truck was transporting a vehicle on its bed at the time of the crash, police said.

Authorities said the Chrysler's driver, a 23-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries and was transported to Boston Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her name and hometown have not been released at this time.

The tow truck driver, a 65-year-old Rowley man, sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized for evaluation, state police said.

The crash is under investigation.
