DERRY, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A woman is dead, and a young girl was taken to a Boston hospital after an explosion and fire at a house in Derry New Hampshire on Thursday.

Authorities said at about 11:40 a.m. an explosion was reported at 141 Goodhue Rd.

A fire broke out after the explosion.

Officials said the woman who died and the injured child both lived at the home and are related.

Fire departments from several communities responded and helped put the fire out in what was reported as difficult stormy conditions.

Officials said the home is now mostly collapsed.

The cause of the explosion is being investigated, although N.H. Fire Marshall Sean Toomey said one possible cause being investigated is during the storm several trees fell on propane tanks near the home.

But he said the investigation is on-going. He also said the neighborhood is safe.

Family members said the injured child has serious burns but is expected to survive.

An autopsy on the victim was scheduled for Friday, April 5.
