WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thanks to decades worth of success with local sports teams, Massachusetts residents have become accustomed to winning.
This week, the city of Worcester took a brand new title as America's snowiest city the season so far.
The website GoldenSnowGlobe.com tracks snow totals in U.S. cities with populations above 100,000 people.
As of Friday, Worcester had received just under 64 inches of snow for the season to date, which is five more inches than Buffalo, N.Y., and around 31 inches more than Boston, which came in 27th on the list overall.
A few other New England cities also reported higher snow totals than Boston this winter.
Lowell, Mass. and Manchester N.H. were numbers 12 and 13 on this list, each receiving around 42 inches of snow this season.
Hartford and Bridgeport, Conn. came in at numbers 17 and 18 respectively, each with 37 inches of snow to date.
Of course, the snowy season is far from over, with the National Weather Service predicting more snowfall in southern New England this Saturday evening into Sunday.
